When you travel 10 kms from Kanyakumari to Thiruvelveli, you will find a large number of windmills on the way. Every year these wind mills produce 4200 MW electricity. These windmills are considered as one of the largest wind farms in the country. The wind speed at this place is 20-25 km and available throughout the year. Kanyakumari, formerly known as Cape Comorin, is a town in Kanyakumari District in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. Kanyakumari lies at the southernmost tip of mainland India. Kanyakumari takes its name from the Hindu goddess Kanyakumari (also called Kumari Amman). Her temple stands on the shores of the Laccadive Sea.
