Did you know, Mudskippers' polka dots become brighter and their fins along with the tail open out and have an aquamarine glow all over every time they get excited. If they are scared or feeling hot, the tip of their tail hooks down and they run for shelter towards water or shade. Mudskippers need to go back onto water every 20-40 seconds some may have been recorded to stay over 40 seconds but there has to be a lot of moisture, mud and shade to protect their sensitive bodies. Mudskippers are also community driven but highly territorial. Mudskippers rank amongst the most fascinating of intertidal life of mangrove and mudflat habitats.
