Mr. Dang met Shomi Das in London where the Duke of Edinburgh had an office. Commander Jones was there and it was decided to start the Duke of Edinburgh award in India. At the time, Mr Dang was working at Doon School in India. They were accommodated at Mr Nayyers TATA house. David Macklihose, the son of the the governor of Hong Kong was Mr. Dang's sharer. He told Mr. Dang that he had won the bronze of the Duke of Edinburgh award in England and that he would be happy to help. Together, they printed out pamphlets and booklets and started the Duke of Edinburgh award in The Doon School which then became very popular in St. Georges College Manor. The award spread to 15 schools in Dehradun, then it spread to Delhi and they found it too much to handle. Mr. Dang was asked indianise the award by the
