Monks of Namagyal Monastery pray Before starting the life long offering ceremony(Tenshug) to His Hbliness The Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, Mcloed gang 2016. Tenshug is the Tibetan term for a ceremonial long life offering to a spiritual teacher who has chosen to be born in this life in an ordinary form. This ritual is done to request the spiritual teacher (lama) to live a long life for the preservation of the Buddhist teachings (dharma) and the happiness of all living beings. Among many methods for making long life offerings according to sutra and tantra, the present Tenshug offering will be made by means of supplications to the Goddess White Tara, the deity of longevity.
