A distracted sadhu listens to his radio intently, with the device stuck to his ear with one hand, even as he conducts a havan or religious ceremony with the other hand... Iconoclastic images of religiosity! A young sadhu boy, meanwhile, smokes a cigarette, in keeping with the irreverent atmosphere. The older sadhu tends to his havan kund fire, while a trishul sits firmly planted in the ground nearby. Located in Jammu and Kashmir and situated on Mount Amarnath, the Amarnath caves are one of the most famous shrines in Hinduism. Dedicated to the god Shiva, the shrine is said to be over 5,000 years old. The shrine forms an important part of Hinduism. Inside the main Amarnath cave lies an ice stalagmite resembling the Shiva Linga, which waxes during May to August and gradually wanes thereafter.
