Near the Tehri dam, one can still see vestigaes of the Uttarakhand floods that ravaged this valley of the Ganges some years back. Flood damaged banks, with more recent monsoon sand banks and even sand mining with trucks collecting the sand can be seen as we fly up the Ganges valley at Chinyalisaur. There is extensive rice cultivation along the banks of the Ganga here, en route Uttarakashi.
