Mr. Jay Pal Reddy announces Prasar Bharti Act ,1990 in the session. Critics maintained that the the real real reason was the reluctance of the government to give its triangle hold on the two powerful media The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India has issued a notification indicating that the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act, 1990 shall come into force from 15th of September, 1997. The Prasar Bharati Act provides for establishment of a Broadcasting Corporation of India, to be known as Prasar Bharati to define its composition, functions and powers and related matters.
