Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School is one of the oldest schools in the capital city of Bhutan and was established by the Late 3rd King, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck on 14th April 1965. Yangchen refers to Goddess of wisdom and Phug means hill in Buddhism. The school offers Dzongkha, English, History, Math, Science, and Geography. Many younger members of the royal family study here. The current 5th King of Bhutan, His Majesty king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck also did his schooling from Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School. This school is recognised for getting amazing scores in BSCE and BHSEC exams. Most are not aware that education is free in Bhutan and some of the teachers are hired from other countries like India and England for a more global touch. The school still uses the
