An armed guard stands in front of the Surat Jail in Gujarat. Behind this wooden door, inmates are offering their evening prayer while some are gathered together. A prisoner narrates his history of illness and infection with HIV. An inmate also gets his routine checkup. A medical practitioner at the prison talks to reporters on the challenges of space inside the jail and the health of the prisoners. He also mentions how the prison authorities segregate the inmates according to the sickness in order to have minimum infection rates among patients with infectious diseases like skin disease and Tuberculosis.
