Indian labourers making a huge wooden boat at fishing harbour in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Fishing is a major industry in Visakhapatnam. A number of fishermen has their livelihoods depend on Fishing in Visakhapatnam. There are seven ice factories in the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour and 10 located outside the harbour that caters to the ice needs of the fishermen. The factories can produce 400 tonnes of ice. Each ice factory employ 15 workers directly and indirectly for ice production. In November 2012, the increase in the price of ice has hit the fishing operation in Visakhapatnam. The power cuts by the Eastern Power Distribution Company has led to the shortage of ice for the fishermen. Due to the power cuts, the production in ice factories fell to 50 per cent.
