1st Afro-Asian Games in New Delhi in the year 2001. Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee uncovers the Sheroo of Afro-Asian games at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Atal Bihari Vajpayee speaks about first Afro-Asian Games. He says, "I compliment the Indian Olympic Association and the ministry of youth affairs and sports who have jointly agreed to organize this event. Our combined hard work should a result in our honored foreign guests finding New Delhi for hosting such an important international sports competition." As many as 96 countries are likely to participate in the Games which will be played in six sporting disciplines - athletics, boxing, swimming, football, tennis and shooting, spread over ten days.
