Maha Mrityunjaya temple is resonating with the beautiful sound of the damaru and mantra chants purifying each and every soul visiting the temple for the peace and prosperity. An ascetic lights the incense sticks and plays damaru while the prayer gets started and the echoes fill the temple complex. The Maha Mrityunjaya temple is the largest and the oldest temple is the Jageshwar temple complex. The temple of Shiva is east facing and the Linga is worshipped as the saviour from death. The unique Linga has an eye-shaped opening. It is believed that reciting a Maha Mrityunjaya mantra is an auspicious and powerful method of self-realization.
