Uttar Pradesh police released lathi-charge on BPEd students in Lucknow as they were marching towards Vidhan Bhawan during Winter Session. The agitating Bachelors of Physical Education (BPEd) degree holders were cane-charged by the police in the state capital after they allegedly resorted to vandalism in front of Vidhan Sabha. Authorities said that over 120 protesters, who had come from across the state, have been detained in this connection. The protesters in thousands were irked over state government’s ‘false promises’ in regularising them and recruiting more people. Police said the protest turned violent when they began to pelt stones at the police who in turn used water cannons and resorted to lathicharge, leaving several protesters injured.
