The annual rural olympic games at Qila Raipur Village near Ludhiana is an event that captivates sports lovers from across the country and abroad.There are spectacular performances and daredevil stunts which enthralled visitors for four days. Over a million people, including international tourists, converged to watch 4,000 sportspersons perform during the event.There was no age bar for participants and no entry fee which facilitated large participation. Today in almost 7000 villages in Punjab in one decade or the other rural sports competitions are being held. Rural folk organise them. It is they who extend all hospitality to the competitors also.
