The people of Ladakh are mainly engaged in animal husbandry in the absence of cultivated land. They earn their livelihood rearing animals like cows, sheeps, yaks, goats, horses and donkeys. The livestock provide them with meat, diary products, clothes and shelter for their survival in cold high lonely plateau. Ladakh is a region of India in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that lies between the Kunlun mountain range in the north and the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent.
