Director Rakesh Roshan talks about his film 'Koyla' and the characters of the lead roles, Amrish Puri and Shah Rukh Khan. Rakesh Roshan: "The film does have a background of coal mines because Amrish Puri is the owner of a coal mine and Shah Rukh is a servant to him. A piece of coal has something to do with Shah Rukh's voice. He is dumb in the film, about 60% and how he gains his voice and how he takes his revenge. That's one part of the story." Koyla is an Indian 1997 Hindi-language action thriller film directed, co-written and produced by Rakesh Roshan, which stars Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Amrish Puri, with Johnny Lever, Ashok Saraf, Salim Ghouse, Deepshikha and Himani Shivpuri in supporting roles. Mohnish Bahl makes a special appearance. The film was released worldwide on 18 Apri
