Director Rakesh Roshan talks about his film 'Koyla' and the characters of the lead roles, Amrish Puri and Shah Rukh Khan. Rakesh Roshan: "The film does have a background of coal mines because Amrish Puri is the owner of a coal mine and Shah Rukh is a servant to him. A piece of coal has something to do with Shah Rukh's voice. He is dumb in the film, about 60% and how he gains his voice and how he takes his revenge. That's one part of the story." Koyla is an Indian 1997 Hindi-language action thriller film directed, co-written and produced by Rakesh Roshan, which stars Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Amrish Puri, with Johnny Lever, Ashok Saraf, Salim Ghouse, Deepshikha and Himani Shivpuri in supporting roles.
