Emraan Hashmi interview on the film Jannat: In this film, there are many issues that we are trying to show. We thought of making a film that is connected to cricket because we all love the sport of cricket in this country. The idea was to create a very different kind of concept. Initially, we thought about making a film where the main character is a sportsperson, but that would have been a very typical approach. So we decided to make a film where the main character is a bookie, and through his perspective, we explore the world of cricket—what happens behind the scenes in a cricket stadium, how betting takes place, and how match-fixing issues actually work. These are things people have heard about but have never really seen presented cinematically. We tried to show those issues in the film.
