A young Rhubarb plant is emerging from dormancy during early spring growth. Bright green leaves with tightly curled and highly textured surfaces are clustered closely together as the plant begins developing new foliage. At the centre of the growth, a pinkish-red crown is visible where the edible stalks, or petioles, will later emerge. Rhubarb is a cold-hardy perennial plant commonly cultivated in temperate climates for its thick edible stalks. Moss-covered rocks and damp soil surrounding the plant reflect the cool and rugged growing conditions often associated with early seasonal growth. The footage captures the initial stage of leaf expansion before the plant reaches full maturity.
