Super sized sundaes being served at a restaurant at Caffe e Gelato in Arkaden mall in Berlin city of Germany. A chef crafts super sized Sundaes in various flavours and with a multitude of ingredients as waiters serve them to visitors. The sundae is a sweet ice cream dessert. It typically consists of one or more scoops of ice cream topped with sauce or syrup, and in some cases other toppings including sprinkles, whipped cream, maraschino cherries, or other fruits (e.g., bananas and pineapple in a banana split.). The origin of the term sundae is obscure; however, it is generally accepted that the spelling "sundae" derives from the English word Sunday, or from the German Sonntag, which means Sunday. This may come from the belief that a special treat such as sundae is usually eaten on weekends
