Badrinath Dham, a major Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The main shrine features a colourful façade, a traditional multi-tiered temple structure and flags flying above it. Ashrams, stone buildings, canopy shelters and other facilities for pilgrims occupy the surrounding hillside. The Alaknanda River flows past the settlement, with pedestrian bridges and concrete walkways providing access for visitors. The newly developed arrival plaza, part of the Badrinath Master Plan redevelopment, features a semi-circular, multi-storey building with carved wooden balconies, colonnades and archways. Pilgrims and visitors walk across the paved open courtyard, with rugged Himalayan mountain peaks rising behind the complex.
