Volunteers of the C.R. Park Mela Ground Durga Puja committee distributes marigold flowers along with belpatra (Aegle marmelos leaves) for pushpanjali on Ashtami. The priest then chants the mantras. One of the most auspicious rituals is Pushpanjali where people wake up early and get dressed in new ethnic wear. They will start gathering early to offer prayers called Pushpanjali at the local pandal. Normally, people fast until they are done offering their prayers as they will feast upon ‘Bhog’ after Pushpanjali.
