A Decorative Silver Orb Spider spinning its spider web filmed in action. The orb weaver is seen from the centre of its web to the peripheral end of the web. Notice the silk thread sticking out of its abdomen once the spider starts spinning the web. The web is made from the liquid silk present in the spider's abdomen. The spider spins the silk in its spinneret and lifts the silk strand in the air to solidify it. Spider webs are designed to trap prey and for mating which will also result in the male individuals becoming prey to the female after mating.
