A cute Himalayan marmot in alpine grasslands of Tibet. Marmots are large squirrels in the genus Marmota. Marmots mainly eat greens and many types of grasses, berries, lichens, mosses, roots, and flowers. Marmots typically live in burrows (often within rockpiles, particularly in the case of the yellow-bellied marmot), and hibernate there through the winter. Most marmots are highly social and use loud whistles o communicate with one another, especially when alarmed. sources- http://www.marmotburrow.ucla.edu/himaly.html This footage is part of the professionally-shot broadcast stock footage archive of Wilderness Films India Ltd., the largest collection of HD imagery from South Asia.
