Hectic interparty political activity continued within the Congress for the post of the leader of the Congress Parliamentary party which fell waken with the resignation of Mr. Narasimha Rao. Towards the end of the week, the party President Mr. Sitaram Kesari look substantially closer to assuming the post with the announcement that the general body meeting will elect the new CPP leader on the 3rd of January. The early demand for the notification of the poll schedule and a secret ballot was rejected in favor of the general body electing the new leader.
