An amazing antiquity Jama Masjid, largest mosque in Asia. The austere grandeur of this structure is sure to impress at the first glimpse. The roof of the mosque is capped with three marble domes with alternating striping in black and white marble. The great artifact is built from red sandstone and white marble, the edifice dominates the skyline of the busy Chawri Bazar in central Delhi and is considered the largest mosque in India. Jama Masjid was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656 at a cost of 1 million rupees and was inaugurated by an imam from Bukhara, present day Uzbekistan. The mosque was completed in 1656 AD with three great gates, four towers and two 40 m high minarets constructed of strips of red sandstone and white marble. Source : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jama_
