What fun for these young girls - fun, food, entertainment and respect all in one package. If only this happened more often... Having old men come and bend low, fold their hands and pay their respects to them! A long row of young girls being fed with mithai and other goodies on the occasion of Ashtami. A priest, a policeman and a NGO lady walk past them, with their hands folded for the young girls. Finally some respect (at least symbolic) for the Indian girl child? The girls wear chunnis and are gifted little packs. With a lit arati thali and fire, the girls are prayed to and an elaborate puja is done in their honour.
