One of the major water bodies in Ranchi —Kanke Dam — that hitherto supplied water to thousands of houses settled around its periphery has been obliged with waste emanating from human activities concentrated around it and has put the reservoir under serious threat of extinction in the days to come. The dam situated in the Kanke area of Ranchi is known for the picturesque picnic spot besides a place that offers unmatched tranquility when watched from the of the Gonda hillock. But the delusional calm water at the top stands in contrast to the reality on the bed of the water body which has never been a subject of interest for the State government.The Dam which was constructed in 1954 has not been cleaned even once in its journey to this date.
