Driving through the tea gardens of West Bengal, interspersed as they are with rain trees and shade trees, and the occasional village, one finds oneself in the lower hills of the Indian state of Sikkim. Traversing north, one reaches the alpine zone with the high altitude conifer forests of north Sikkim. An Indian Army truck can also be seen heading to the China border.
