Tattooed, coloured, painted and bedecked, these camels are made to look their brightest for this desert festival! Camels are royalty at Rajasthan's famous Pushkar Mela or Pushkar Camel Fair. Held every year at the Pushkar town in Ajmer, this festival boasts as the largest camel and livestock fair in the world. Camels and livestock from all over Rajasthan are brought here for exhibition and commerce. The fair is also attended by thousands of local and international tourists. Decked in colourful accessories from top to bottom the camels are ready for a show in front of a circle of spectators. One can see the colourful decor on the nose and neck of the animal made of colourful fabric and even metallic accessories. Motifs are also drawn on the skin of the camel.
