Working delicately in the field, atop a banyan Ficus leaf, a wildlife worker measuring the size of baby Python. This high stakes drama takes place within Kaziranga National Park, in a top secret location where a python mother laid her eggs within the bough of a fallen tree trunk. The Pythonidae, commonly known simply as pythons, from the Greek word python , are a family of nonvenomous (though see the section "Toxins" below) snakes found in Africa, Asia and Australia. Among its members are some of the largest snakes in the world. Eight genera and 26 species are currently recognized.
