Colorful fishing boats of Kerala, India Fishing industry occupies an important role in the economy of Kerala. According to the available estimates of the potential fishery resources of the west coast, particularly in South West coasts, Kerala possesses the richest fishing grounds in the area. The state exports fish products worth approximately Rupees 1,200 Crores and has domestic sales worth Rupees 600 crore annually, accounting for roughly three per cent of the state revenue.
