We already know that classical and folk are the two types of dance forms in India. Here we will learn more about some of the folk dances popular in India. Chhau is popular in Jharkhand, Odissa, and West Bengal. Masks form an important part of this dance. The performers dance to the tunes of traditional folk music. Dandiya is popular in Gujarat and Rajasthan. People wear colourful dresses and use sticks or dandiya while dancing. Theyyam is very popular in Kerala. In this dance form, the faces of the dancers are painted in bright colours, primarily in orange. Large, decorative masks are also worn by the dancers. Bihu is a folk dance from the state of Assam.
