It is common to put Khada around the neck of people dear to you when they go away from home to some distant places, similarly, the white ceremonial scarf is also used to welcome near and dear ones when they return from other places. The white scarf is also used to welcome and bid farewell to guests at places like airport, train station and bus station etc. In these contexts, Khata is a gesture of welcome, goodbye and good luck in the form of best purity and sincerity.
