Sharks (superorder Selachimorpha) are highly aggressive carnivorous fish with razor sharp rows of teeth, with a full cartilaginous skeleton and highly streamlined body. They breathe underwater through five to seven gill slits. They have a covering of dermal denticles that protects their skin from damage and parasites, improves their fluid dynamics helping them to move faster and quicker. There are many species of sharks but species such as the great white shark, tiger shark, blue shark, mako shark and hammerhead are apex predators, which are at the top of the food chain. Even though they are fearsome predators and fascinating animals, they are under a serious threat of survival from fishing and other human activities.
