This twenty year old footage shows child labour at work in India. This rather sparky-eyed 12 year boy is now probably a disillusioned 32 year old somewhere in north India. He is probably unemployed or barely employed given that he has probably not received a formal education. Child labour is a real problem in India, but sometimes it is the innocent by-product of a family needing to earn all the income they can to make ends meet, and a child simply helping out to chip in. Children could also be learning new vocations in the process, in some cases, so perhaps there are two sides to the argument.
