Indian Birthwort and Snakeroot are the common names of Aristolochia Indica. In Sanskrit it is known as Sunanda. The plant has been used as a traditional medicine for post-delivery-infections and snakebites. A viewer tells us: "The root with bark, when rubbed on a small granite stone with few drops of water to get a small amount of paste, and this paste is applied over the place where scorpion or bees sting. The pain due to scorpion or bees sting disappears in ten minutes . This is our experience." The flowers of this plant are said to resemble a snake or a curved foetus.
