For about three hundred years after landing at Sanjan, a town in Gujarat, Parsis are said to have lived in peace. By that time their numbers had greatly increased. Sanjan is believed to have been founded by Zoroastrian refugees who sought asylum in Gujarat. Those Zoroastrians, whose descendants are today known as the Parsis. From the time on, the New year Festival or Navroze is still celebrated by the community with much fervour marking the arrival of Parsi community in India.
