Ladakh has been predominantly a Buddhist region. Amidst the cold dry desert of the trans-Himalayan region, the presence of Buddhism is what keeps the region calm clean and disciplined. The extreme weather conditions feel like just another day to the Buddhist monks of that region, as with the practices of Buddhism, they learn to be strong and calm.
