Fishermen pulling their fishing net filled with fish along the shore of Bakkhali beach, West Bengal. Seine fishing (or seine-haul fishing) is a method of fishing that employs a seine or dragnet. A seine is a fishing net that hangs vertically in the water with its bottom edge held down by weights and its top edge buoyed by floats. Seine nets can be deployed from the shore as a beach seine, or from a boat. Bakkhali is a seaside resort in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India. It is located on one of the many deltaic islands that spread across southern Bengal. Most of the islands are part of the Sunderbans range, barring a few at the fringes. Some of these are joined together with bridges over narrow creeks. This small island juts out into the vastness of the Bay of Bengal. It
