In a Sacred ceremony, Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck marries and later crowns Jetsun Pema with elaborate Buddhist rituals, thereby making her the queen of the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. The wedding took place in the old Bhutanese capital, Punakha with thousands of Bhutanese lining up the streets to get a glimpse of their king. The wedding ceremony takes place in front of Buddhist religious leaders, monks, the queen mothers, and the former king. The newlywed Jetsun Pema bows in front of the king just before she ascends as the queen of Bhutan. The king places the crown, declaring her as the Queen of Bhutan.
