Pung cholom is the dance of drums used in Nata sankirtan. And the drums of dhol cholom are used during holi and other such occasions. This is dhol cholom, also known as dhol dholok cholom. Pung cholom is different. Dhol Cholom, a dynamic drum dance of Manipur performed by men and characterised by energetic drumming, accompanied by complex rhythms and cross rhythms, jumps and aerial leaps at Sangai festival in Manipur. With Manipur also known as “Little Paradise on earth”, using it as the setting for a festival is a natural choice. The Sangai Festival of 2013 was a grand event. Local cuisine, attire, dances and traditions were celebrated with other countries from the Asian region - Myanmar, Thailand and China were welcomed warmly as part of this festive occasion.
