Women walk to a nearby dairy farm in New Delhi to purchase milk for their households. A man proceeds to milk the cows in their stable, releasing the pressure and tension in the engorged teats. At the Maharishi Dayanand Gaushala in Delhi, milk is retailed to consumers, after being strained into a large container to avoid solid particles admixing with the milk. Once taken home, the milk is boiled and strained once again before consumption. Maharshi Dayanand Gosamwardhan Kendra has more than 800 cows in a 12 acre land in Ghazipur on Delhi-UP border. It is not for profit organization, dedicated to developing and maintaining Indian breeds of cows. It has a hydroponics plant for producing fodder and practices natural breeding of cows.
