Chortens, small prayer houses, atop Dochula pass near Thimphu, Bhutan. Prayer Flags, Mani Walls and Prayer Wheels present a propitious setting throughout the urban agglomerate of Thimphu. Thimphu is the place where Buddha is worshipped. Mahayana Buddhism is the state religion and the dominant ethnic group is Drukpa of Kargyu Buddhism, while in Southern Bhutan Hindus of Nepali ethnicity are dominant.
