A Nehru Institute of Mountaineering instructor gives an introduction to rock climbing to trainees in the mixed winter adventure course.The instructor explains the importance of wearing a helmet and using rubber soled rock climbing or PA shoes (named after Pierre Alain) for grip. He also explains the need for a sling or a short rope. He goes on to explain that there are two types of climbing: Free climbing or bouldering (without the use of technical equipment.
