Statue of Buddha inside the Samten Choling Buddhist Ghoom Monastery in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Samten Choling Buddhist Monastery is located in Ghoom and is often referred as the Ghoom Monastery. But the old and the original Ghoom Monastery is the Yiga Choeling which is another 1km away tucked at the end of a narrow road. Samten Choling is located in Ghoom conveniently on the Hill Cart Road some 7km away from the town of Darjeeling. So unless you specifically mention, the cab driver is likely to bring you here saying that this is the Ghoom Monastery. It could be both because the locals say so and also to cleverly save on fuel. When you go from Darjeeling town towards Ghoom, before you reach the Ghoom station you will see Samten Choling monastery on your right. There is a big gate having a
