Women of Darcha village dance to their local folk songs. Darcha is a village in a high altitude valley of Lahaul and Spiti district in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Their traditional attire compliments their habitat and culture where women are accustomed to wearing big nose-rings. The women seem to have very pinched features due to the harsh climate altitude. Despite the 11000 ft. altitude, the women put up an energetic and rhythmic dance, with the accompaniment of a drum and a chimta type instrument for rhythm. Paramilitary personnel seem to be standing and watching the show. They seem to be guarding a dump of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) drums and other materials.
