Before the immersion of the Goddess in Yamuna water all the married women of the locality offer her sweet and water, bidding her goodbye. At the end of six days, the idol is taken for immersion in a procession amid loud chants of 'Bolo Durga mai-ki jai' (glory be to Mother Durga') and 'aashchhe bochhor abar hobe' ('it will happen again next year') and drumbeats to the river or other water body. Sindoor Ritual: The next day of Navratri is known as Mahadashmi, this day Goddess Durga departs with her four children - Laxmi, Sarswati, Kartik and Ganesha.The day formally starts with the special puja, yajna and Maha Arti.
