Taj Mahal, the 'architectural crown of India', located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. It was built over 350 years ago by powerful Mughal ruler Shah Jahan in honor of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal is one of the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Islamic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish and Indian architectural styles. Taj Mahal is known for its symmetry, white marble, and the love story that brought it to life. The Taj Mahal attracts a large number of tourists. UNESCO documented more than 2 million visitors in 2001, including more than 200,000 from overseas.
