These are not your common Blue Rock Pigeons that beet on your window sills and lay eggs outside your room. These are the more shy and arboreal (tree dwelling) Hariyal of Common Green Pigeon, also known in Latin as Treron phoenicoptera. They live in green leafy trees, nest within them, rarely descend to the ground, fly strong with heavy wing beats, bursting out of trees in large numbers, and feeding on the Ficus figs and berries or other fruiting trees and shrubs. They are often found in verdant urban environments such as these Green Pigeons in Delhi, as seen from the wildfilmsindia office.
