Gorsam Chorten or Stupa is the largest in the North Eastern India. It is a replica of the Boudha Stupa of Nepal, the other replica being Chorten Kora in Bhutan. An annual festival is held here which brings Monpa people from all the nearby villages (and also from Bhutan) to gather at one place near the Chorten, to circumbrate and pray. The colorful and friendly Monpas in their traditional attire come out in full spirit to welcome the guest to this spectacular event. This is also the very place where 14th Dalai Lama had the first rest after entering into India after He fled from Tibet. Included in the visits are Tawang Monastery and the birth place of the 06th Dalai Lama.
